The Locator ring is a durable black plastic internally-threaded sleeve that is used to adjust the driving depth of the screw. Twist the collar one way and the screw will sink to a deeper finish, twist it the other way and the screw will sit higher etc. Replace your misplaced or damaged locator ring with an original Makita spare.
