The terminal plate is the connection point / conduit between the battery and the tool itself. This particular yellow terminal plate is one of two newer terminal plates that are stamped with a star and have three connections. The star and third connection are for the newer wave of tools that have extra protections built in and can take up to 6amp batteries. The yellow terminal plate is designed for low drain tools, like Codles Drills, Hedge Trimmers and Impact Drivers. The other is black which is suited for tools that drain the batteries more quickly.
Please note, any tool with a Terminal Plate that has only two connections can use only 3amp batteries or below.
