This Makita replacement riving knife is attached to the saws arbor (shaft) and is fixed relative to the blade and moves with it accordingly as the blade depth is adjusted. It is also used to maintain an even gap between the two cut sides of the board, preventing jamming and therefore potential harm to the machine user. Replace you part here.
