There have been many strimmers in the B&D series, some were manually fed, some are bump feed, and some, like this range are auto fed. Auto fed strimmers use a spool cap with an actuator lever inside that is weight sensitive. This lever allows the spool to ratchet out a certain amount of line as centrifugal forces change when the strimmer line breaks during use. Over time the spool caps can become brittle or hit a stone etc and need replacing. Keep your strimmer in good shape and keep an orginal spare.

Uses the A6441 Double Spool and Line.
